History:
Have you heard of the old story where a camera can take away your soul?
There was a silly movie that had come out about an old cassette tape that carried a curse. Whoever recorded their name into that tape would greet death in some gruesome way. A fad sparked by the movie quickly grew popular in schools as students passed around cassette tapes collecting names for fun. Despite parental concerns, it was a harmless stunt held by student bodies.

However, there was a particular tape that did carry its name. Students who recorded their names fell sick, or injured. Curious students sought to test out rumors and it quickly recorded hundreds of names, of which, each student to its curse. Eventually, a fearful and disgruntled class decided to try to destroy said tape deck. It was discarded.

Have you ever felt empathy towards inanimate objects?
Having collected hundreds of names thus hundreds of lives from students, the broken tape took life in the form of the student who recorded his name last, however, he still stood out among humans (he has no neck).

Scared, he traveled from town to town hoping to find a haven to stay. He didn't know how to deal with humans let alone live among them. Upon heard rumors and such, he eventually found himself at the gate of Nightmare Academy, hopeful for admission as a student.
